Zonta Club of Pasadena’s
Women of Achievement Donate $10,000
PASADENA, Ca., Jan. 12, 2005 – The Zonta Club of Pasadena recently celebrated its 75 th Anniversary by honoring 20 outstanding current and former members as “Women of Achievement.” Each honoree was awarded $500 to contribute to the charity of her choice.
“The Pasadena chapter is very proud of the work and contributions our honorees have made in the community,” said President Wendy Edwards. “A variety of organizations and non-profits will benefit from these donations.”
Founded in 1919, Zonta is an international organization dedicated to advancing the status of women worldwide. The Pasadena chapter, which meets at the Pasadena Women’s City Club, has more than 50 members and has had an impact on virtually every women’s and children’s organization in the community.
“Since 1997, when the Woman of Achievement event was created, we’ve awarded more than $100,000 to programs aimed at solving the problems of domestic violence, homelessness, and lack of health care and education,” Edwards added.
This year’s Woman of Achievement award donations will be given to Hospice of Pasadena; Blinn House Foundation; Altadena Christian Children’s Center; Adoptive Recreation Program; Young & Healthy; Zonta Club; Women at Work, YMCA of Pasadena; the Asset Development Network of Greater Pasadena; Place of Miracles; Wellness Community Foothills; Foster Children’s Project; Ability First; Villa Esperanza; Western Justice Center Foundation and Ability First.
