Zonta Club of Pasadena Donates $18,000
to the Pasadena Police Department
PASADENA, Calif., Oct. 12, 2006 -- The Zonta Club of Pasadena presented a check today for $18,000 to the Pasadena Police Department to assist women and children who are victims of domestic violence. The funds were raised by the Zonta Club’s “Providing Safety & Shelter” Benefit, which was held in May.
“The outpouring of support and generosity by the community, members of the Zonta Club, individuals, companies and other service organizations made this gift possible,” said Susan Kinney, President of the Zonta Club. “We applaud the important work the Pasadena Police Department is doing to prevent violence against women and children and we are honored to help them through this donation.”
A portion of the funds raised by Zonta will be used to provide “survival bags” to the Pasadena Police Department to distribute to victims. The bags contain vouchers for hotels, food, transportation, clothing, telephone use, and comfort items such as shampoo and toothpaste. The funds will also be used to purchase children’s car seats and support Pasadena Police Department programs that benefit women and children in the community.
