Zonta Club of Pasadena Rounding Up Old Computers and New Teddy Bears To Help Others

PASADENA, Calif., April 15, 2005 – The Zonta Club of Pasadena, in partnership with the Pasadena High School’s Z Club, is asking area residents to bring old computers and new teddy bears to the Castle Press parking lot on Saturday, April 30 from 9 a.m. – noon. “We have student and adult volunteers from the Foster Care Project who will refurbish the computers and donate them to youth who are leaving foster care and entering Pasadena City College,” said Monica Hubbard of Zonta. “All old PC or MAC computers and accessories such as monitors, keyboards, mice, and cables are needed.”

Zonta is also asking for donations of new teddy bears for mothers in the central California Women’s Facility and the Valley State Prison for Women to give to their children on Mother’s Day.

“All new, medium-sized teddy bears will be donated to the “Get on the Bus” project which brings children and their caregivers to prison facilities for much needed visits,” Hubbard added. While this is an exciting event for the children, the trip home can feel a little sad. That's why each child's mom will have a teddy bear to offer for comfort at their separation.

Castle Press is located at 1222N. Fair Oaks Avenue. For more information, please contact Monica Hubbard at (626) 797-5912 or mhubbard@caltech.edu.
